POEM STARTER

Silver Lining

Choose any negative topic and write a poem about its silver lining.

A piece of you, pretty

A: “ You! Come with me! “

Grabbing hands in the dark, nothing was yet different.

Silent road, no looks, yet nothing was wrong.

B “ Where are we going? “

Question without response. That’s how it should be.

B: “ What does this even mean? “

Brand new place, shiny white walls, even better than home. What else is there to ask for?

A: “ Listen, you’re going to be attacked. Your home, they’ll come back for you. There was no time for waiting, I took you under my protection. “

B: “ My, my family, do they know? “

A: “ …no, but don’t worry, they’re protected. “

B: “ …so, the entire beginning, that scene, it was all pretending? Did they know…? “

A: “ Don’t worry, you’ve got my word. You’re here because with me you are safe. I was being watched this entire time, …, playing pretend was our ONLY way out. “

Grabbing hands followed by answers. A start of … something.

Getting closer, as it should be.

B: “ I want our safety, I need our peace…I need to want us! “

Open words through not so open smiles.

A: “ Hmmm, how about a piece of you? “

B: “ I…what? Now…no. “

A: “ How you wish, beautiful.

….

You’ve got my protection, my promise. For peace, I wouldn’t miss a single piece. “

Smiling.

Love shown through … something , is that called love?

One step closer, few more back, till it breaks.

They did come back, but moved the fires.

(Shouts all around, it’s loud all around, fire growing wildly, now it’s not a that sweet home)

No way to go, but home. Home is in strong arms, soft hands, soft touch. Strong hold, protective stepping back. A cage built of gold will, strong will, not that spacious, but still free.

Not fragile. Never.

B: “ I want my safety. “

Not the final look, but finally, a look. From both sides, nothing too different. Maybe…not yet.

Warm eyes, such warm colour. Seriously looking for love, still not serious.

A: “ Then so do I. “

Final holding, never ending. Forever warming.

B: “ I feel like you know me much more than you let me see. “

Waiting. Smiling.

A: “ I do not know you entirely. “

Holding back, hesitating. Deep look.

Dangerously safe.

A: “ Will you let me know you? “

(Entirely?)

B: “ I wouldn’t keep away one piece. “

More smiling. Deeply involved in this…how is it called?

A: “ I don’t wanna rush things. Let’s start slow, let’s start modest. I’ll start with the first piece, I want this to be true for you. “

Not so many moments, still the world is stopping.

It always does, doesn’t it?

A: “ Deal? “

One moment.

B: “ Deal. “

Smiling, softly talking, softly touching.

Closed words, finished sentences, locked souls, opened barriers.

A: “ A piece of you then, pretty. “
