“I can’t believe you are going with her!” A voice yelled at me from down the hall. I sighed, closing my locker resignedly. I glanced behind me to see the pretty blonde cheerleader gaining on me fast. I walked quickly down the hall, hoping to get outside and to my car before she caught me. “Liam Raynott! Get back here!” I paused just outside the front door, deciding to get this over with. Karen, the cheer captain who was chasing me, finally caught up. “Why did Stefani tell me, that Lena told her, that Stacy told her, that Brice told her, that Leo told him, you were going to homecoming with the new girl!!?!!” She shrieked. “How could you do this to me, she’s not even pretty, her hair is…..” and on and on and on about how ugly this girl was and how she was _so_ much better. Karen paused to take a breath and I broke in. “I’m not going with the new girl, I’m not going with anyone, and for the last time, **I am not going with you!**” I left her stammering and climbed in the front of my old pickup truck. As I pulled around the high school to pick up my sisters, I looked over at Leo in the passenger seat and said, “So, why did you send Karen after me?” He smiled and replied, “You looked like you needed a pick-me-up.” I laughed and he joined me, both of us filling the nearly empty parking lot with our amusement.
