“Why do you read those stupid books.” Richard’s father asked as he sat at the kitchen table covered in dirt and grime from a long day at the construction site. Richard knew how his father felt about him spending so much time reading but it was his one escape from his life. He worked at the sane construction company with his dad since he had graduated high school. It was not his first choice in a job but there was not many options available to him.

“I know you think I’m wasting my time but the truth is I enjoy reading them and one day I want to have an adventure like the ones I read about.” Richard said without looking up from his book. It was just the two of them since his mom had ran out when Richard was a young boy.
