STORY STARTER

Detail an average day in the life of your protagonist before your story starts.

You don't have to write a dramatic story, just get into the mindset of your character and think about their daily behaviours, interactions and emotions.

Summer Ends, Fall Begins

Skylar woke up at dawn. She stretched out her wings and back, enjoying the feel of her limbs as they moved. Skylar’s muscles rippled as she stretched her long legs and thickly muscled tail. She was a Drea, a race of dragon like creatures with scaled wings and tails and sharp horns atop their heads. The rest of their bodies were humanlike, though, except for their unusually large height. As a young Drea without too much responsibility, Skylar usually took a morning run before breakfast, enjoying the quietness of the forest before everything woke up. She was joined this morning by Jeremiah. Easily keeping pace with her, his long legs matched Skylar’s stride. She smiled up at him, grateful for the companionship. The air that whipped through Skylar’s hair was fresh and cool. The first sign of autumn coming. Early morning birds flew overhead chirping sweetly to their young. Skylar smiled at the beauty of it all. They made their way back to the small treehouse Skylar shared with her aunt. Jeremiah helped Skylar make some breakfast, just some eggs and squirrel bacon. Her aunt, Lynna, woke up to the smell of cooking meat, which disgusted her only a little bit as a vegetarian. Skylar had also prepared some mushrooms just for her, though she joked that they didn’t taste as good as the squirrel. They ate together, each content not to break the peaceful quiet. After breakfast, everyone split off to do their own thing. Skylar needed to go hunting and foraging for more food for the coming winter. Jeremiah had Krieger training, a sort of warrior school that was also a military camp. And Lynna had to go to the Great Oak, (their version of a city hall), to advocate for peaceful interactions with the other races. They met up again for a quick dinner, and a long evening walk. On the walk they talked about important things, like the threat of war that was always on the horizon, unimportant things, like Skylar’s distaste for edible fungi, and everything thing in between. They watched the sunset on the edge of the forest, and then flew to their own homes. Jeremiah lived with his father in a large house near Skylar and Lynna, but he did not live with them. His relationship with them was unclear, even to him.
