WRITING OBSTACLE
Inspired by Junie
Write a story from the perspective of an owl at night.
How would their senses be different, and how could you describe this?
Beautiful Marie
Awakened from my evening slumber
To search the night for those who stray,
I gaze from my perch, outside my nest
Built in the side of a tree.
And catching my eye, I could not hope
For more than she, my beautiful Marie
Showing high among the stars
Yet brighter than they— is she.
Come storm or clouds,
Though she lacks a feather to fly,
She returns to her throne as queen
On dark and dreamy nights
And though you might think me mad
I still wait in wonder to see her
As though she stages herself for me
And not for all to see
Still I rise to reach her height
At the end of long and huntful hours
With wings spread wide
To reach her despite my mortal shell
She taunts me— Oh! How cruel her stare,
I will never know peace.
