What happens next?

Secrets

I stand in front of the two-way mirror. I narrow my eyes as I stare at the person on the other side. It looks exactly like me but I know there is someone behind it. I study myself, however, I know it’s not my reflection that’s the problem.

“I know your watching me,” I said, staring at myself in the mirror.

I heard a small thump form the other side. Then came a muffled but clear-enough voice. “Aren’t you a smart one?”

Despite the muffled tone I could catch a bit of playfulness in the voice. I rolled my eyes and reached the latched on the left side of the mirror. I opened it up and watched unsympathetically as my older brother, Sparrow, slipped out with a thump. He quickly got up and dusted himself off. I made an annoyed scoff.

Sparrow turned its attention towards, “Can’t you just be little fun? I got all cramped up in there.” Sparrow bent his back, which made a popping sound.

I rolled my eyes once again at him, “I don’t care.” I used a tone like it was the most obvious thing in the universe.

Sparrow just cracked his neck, not paying any acknowledgment to me. “Anyway, do you think that’ll be a good place to hide,” Sparrows voice got quieter, “the you-know-what.” He pointed to the mirror.

I took a few minutes to think. “Maybe if we find a way to cramped it stuck.”

Sparrow nodded, “Well you can figure that out, l I’ll go check on the thing.”

I nodded and watched as he skipped away. I still couldn’t believe he had no clue what the ‘thing’ was. Though he could just be pulling an act. I do have to be careful around my brother. I look at the mirror, it would be the perfect spot if it wasn’t so easy to open. I looked around the room, checking to see is there were any other good hiding places.

None. Just the two-way mirror. I open it up a bit more, rubbing my fingers on the door that led to who know where. What secrets are you hiding, mirror? ‘Cause I’ve got some too.
