Rose In Sunflowers

In a field of wildflowers, I am different.

I am not beautiful and tall, or adorable and short.

I have no bright colors, or pretty leaves.

I am covered in thorns, no one dares to touch me.

I am alone.

Surrounded by tall sunflowers that block the sun.

Until one day

The ache in my heart and soul

The longing to be seen

To be loved

So I stopped stretching for the sun

And let my stem bend

But someone bent down

And carefully uprooted me

He took me home

And planted me in the window

And in the reflection

I saw not a weed

I was tall and straight

With a beautiful red crown atop my head.
