POEM STARTER

The Burden of Memory
Write a poem that could have this as its title.
The Burden Of Memory
Driving down this lonesome road
The radio plays a song we used to know
Every note, a whisper from the past
A bittersweet reminder, how long can memories last?
Oh the burden of memories, falling down like heavy rain
Falling down on my heart, dragging me down to the depths of pain
I carry them softly, in my gentle hands
For the memory of you is a burden, one no one will understand
Late nights dancing on that old wooden floor
Laughter wrapped in silence, what were we waiting for?
Now the clock ticks louder, counting down broken dreams
While I sift through the moments, unraveling seams
I chase your memory like it is a shooting star
Fading away, but staying close, never too far
Just when I think I’ve let go of the pain
The past comes calling out a familiar name
So I’ll open this bottle, and poor out the truth
The good and the bad, the innocence of youth
We’re tangled in time, like vines on a wall
And I wonder if _you _ever remember it all
And maybe one day I’ll learn to let go
But for now I’ll keep walking down this lonesome road
In the light of dawn, I’ll set them free
But tonight, in my mind, it’s still you and me
