A Race Against Time
Dear diary,
As kids we placed two paper boats in the tub and would see which would sink faster. A stop watch beating seconds I remember not watching the time thinking if I just forgot it for a while longer it wouldn't catch up to me ,but time will pass anyway. The first ship will slowly begin to sink within the first two minutes and soon will disintegrate into nothing but a mess. The second ship was made out of sturdier paper, but still as before it'll sink. I could build 100 paper boats and wait for something to last, but I know nothing will. -
Time has gotten in between us now, no matter how l look at it we aren't the same little kids anymore. The ones who tried to beat time. Looks like it's caught up to us now. I can't help think about how things played out I knew College would drift us apart but now it feels like were floating apart completely. Sometimes I think about reaching out but my heart begins to sink thinking about how much time has passed. Sometimes I cry when I think about a place where you would have stood or when I get ready in silence that would have been filled with your laughter. Other times it's a smell like the scent of lemons. Do you remember that summer we ran a lemonade stand?
God, I'm grieving a living person, filling their spot with memories I'm grasping onto. Time has passed but I still can't seem to move on. I’ll leave it here for now, The tears are starting to smudge the ink.
**No matter how old you are you can't out run time no matter how prepared you are.**
