Golden Afternoon
All in a golden afternoon,
Under the skies of cloudless blue.
Carefree with kids one and two,
Dancing and playing as children do.
Seesaws and swinging,
Laughing and singing,
Sand going flinging,
Ignore the phone ringing.
This is my time to spend with the girls.
Lift them and swing them around in a swirl.
Walk on the sand and pick up some shells.
It drives me insane but let them ring their bells.
Cos one day I know that they will be grown,
Out of the house that they once called home.
Starting a life and family of their own.
And I’ll just be memory and a pile of bones.
