POEM STARTER
Write an elegy about the death of something other than a person.
An elegy is a sad poem, traditionally expressing sorrow for someone who has passed away.
Meraki
They’ve covered you
You once were new
And now you’re devoured
By black and blue
I wasn’t surprised
You’ve lived many lives
You didn’t lack spine
But how time flies
Old and leathered
You looked so weathered
But I loved to glance
It showed you were treasured
Stalling goodbyes
Tears in my eyes
I waited so long
Before I revised
To write.
Again.
