POEM STARTER
Compose a poem centred around the theme of 'the one that got away'.
Circus
Ain’t it strange
The way we rearrange
To have our love stay in our life?
So bizarre
How I would go so far
Just to keep my love, to lose my strife
Just like an angel
Like a sweet bird of prey
You landed on my arm and caught me by surprise
You came on strong, then gently flew away
Just like a circus
We walked on the tightrope trapeze
We couldn’t balance
With the weight of our hearts in our knees
You made me laugh
I made you smile all around
But I was taken and you were just broken up
It’s the timing that turns you into a clown
And it’s strange
Yes, it’s so bizarre
I’m here waiting on this worn out page
And you’re flying high on a star
So it goes
Love’s labors lost again
So who knows?
Maybe it was only a circus in the end
