POEM STARTER
Write a poem that shows how a single moment in a person’s childhood still affects them to this day.
It does not have to be a something negative...
🥀 Starving For Proud 🥀
She skipped and smiled
Coming back from school
Holding her exam papers
Her enjoyment could pool
Pool around her ankles,
Right till her head
Excited to show her mom
The perfect score she met
It was her mother’s expectation that were too high
So over the span of years
She would always stand to thrive,
Trying to get ahold of those tiny drops of joy and proud even if they were mere
So you could guess that those perfect marks would bring her mom joy
But it was then the little kid’s heart was broken
Not from a boy
But it was her mother’s disappointment that stabbed the wound that was itching and pokin’
Pokin’ for the joy of making mother proud
But her disappointment and anger were loud
After that all the little kid saw was just a dark cloud…
Of nothing of proudness and joy
A moment where the little kid cried all day
Wondering if her life is just a game
Wondering if she could return that “game”
Where she would never win
Her head always will spin
Return it to the heavens
Where her mom wouldn’t need to see her disappointment child again…
