LAST THOUGHTS
As I heard the cry of the last wolf, I knew it was over... Soon everything that we had built and destroyed would be less than nothing. Total Annihilation. No Escape.
There air was hot, a stiff breeze coming from the epicenter of the destruction. Funny how you can watch humanity come to an end from a distance before it reaches you and takes you with it. I knew it was my last few mortal breaths, along with everything next to me, but the scene was somehow... peaceful. Birds were chirping warnings, animals everywhere atop the forested cliffside were running to its edge to get a better view. Some desperate animals started to run, but I knew better... You could not outrun this. Not the end of the world. . .
I guess you could say that I wasted my last thoughts on what my last thoughts should have been. Did we bring it upon ourselves or was it some kind of accident? Where did everything go wrong? Where is everyone I know? Have they been consumed by the blastwave or are they also watching its approaching inevitability? Why did I choose to wear brown shoes today? All seemingly worthless thoughts watching my end grow near.
The air was burning my lungs, the forest was starting to catch fire, long before the shockwave even hit us... Then it came. The End.
