VISUAL PROMPT

Prompt submitted by Tenshi

Write a poem about what streetlights make you think of.

Streetlights

I try to count the lightbulbs of the streetlight,

Some shine as bright as they can,

Others stay dark even at night.

Take every lightbulb as a memory,

Some are happy,

Some are sad,

But you still try to remember them all.

Every time I see the streetlight,

I think of your eyes,

And how they brought me to life.

The joy in every imperfect strand,

Countless memories in its hand,

We’ve seen the good and bad,

Cut the electricity short,

Made it come back.

Saw the wounds of shattered glass,

From when the streetlight fell down,

Only to tie it back up,

Because we weren’t done yet.

We have an endless amount of bulbs to hang,

Some will be turned off,

While others will always bring us light,

Let’s make a new memory tonight,

While we watch the streetlights.
