WRITING OBSTACLE
Submitted by Aster
Write from the perspective of a character that has been experimented on their entire life.
Consider how they view themselves, and how they feel about the world, after the extensive modification of their body.

Does it count as an experiment when they put you on drugs because they don’t like that you are different. You are underage you don’t have a say. You ask for blue hair for Christmas You are instead instructed to take speed. The one thing you had going for yourself was cross country. You were in the junior Olympics you were a well oiled machine and then you were passed out on the trail a side effect of some drug that has since been taken off the market
Does it count as eugenics when they steal your children. Take them away from bad breeding. Make their decisions for both them and for you. At differing ages from before birth until 12. But they still haven’t told you who’s deciding. Now I taught pre/k and kindergarten for 20 years but at some point it went beyond schooling. So I just pulled out stayed at the bar where I made all my money anyway I had no little ones left that young to take with me. See back in the old days they had this thing called. Family. They raised you they loved you they stuck up for you. At least that’s what it says in the movies. And if it’s not your made to feel it’s your fault cuz everything you come from is Rotten and bitter
Does it still count as rape when they tell you to your face you won’t remember and then all you know is needles machines and hallucinations. 3 weeks of confusion though they swear you were in a coma. It wasn’t black it was delusional but made sense at the time.
Why am I being restrained? Can you remember your name? None of these circles seem concentric
Does it still count as being poor when they assume you’re just a whore because all the things they took from you left you crazy.
Does it not count as locked up. You scream they say shut up. The screaming so constant they can’t differentiate yours from another when a man comes in it’s up to you to keep you and your bedridden roommate safe
Is this really supposed to be treatment Another 6 months go by before your free
Yes you. You’re welcome. You’re free
Now that they’ve drained all the money
Go live your life. Here’s a new start.
A place to live? That’s a good one!
After all, what do you think this was
Some kind of hospital?
Well that’s what it says on the door
You move ghost like from the room
Feeling as though you may as well
Have stayed in a coma this whole time
For all the good waking up
Has supposedly done you
You feel worse than when you first came in
As you pick up your belongings
Not hard as you came in a naked Jane doe Hearing them speaking about and behind you actually hurts more than anticipated
I know your new but you can’t let people like
Her get to you ok, always on the hunt
For the next handout or a place to stay
But she had a working number a mailing address
Trust me she won’t answer just mark transient
With that check of a box
Your fate
