Guardian angels God be praised

A hedge about me You have raised

To keep me from the doom around

To keep my family safe and sound.

I do not ask if I deserve protection

Though I wonder at divine intervention

But I know it is nothing that I have done

It is not God’s favor that I have won.

For truly special I know I am not

There is nothing to what I have got

I am just a man and nothing more

I do not know what the angels are for.

Yes, they keep me safe from harm

I am protected by God’s right arm

And I am glad for extra protection

I am happy for divine intervention.

So if you see angels guarding me

Whether on the street or in the tree

In the stairwell hanging around

Or wherever else they may be found.

Know that they came to me unbidden

Know that they are usually hidden

Know that I am ordinary and plain

Know that I too have sin and pain.

Do not wonder if you have angels guarding you

Do not wonder if you think God is true

Just remember that God loves you

Whether guardian angels are surrounding you.
