She stared at the post-it positioned hastily on her fridge. The handwriting was exactly as she’d imagined it would be. She re-read it over and over again, refusing to believe it was true, but the more she looked over it, the more validated it seemed. The note read:

“Dear Millie, I’m off to see the world. -All the Best, Malec”

People had warned her about this happening, but she’d always thought they were joking. She shouldn’t have left her laptop open last night. She closed her eyes shut and rubbed the bridge of her nose, wishing and hoping this was impossible. But as she looked over the post-it note one last time, she knew the truth. Malec would reek havoc on New York City.

The villain from her own book had come to life, and it was up to her to stop him.
