POEM STARTER

“That was the only lesson she ever needed to learn.”

Write a poem about anything you wish, but end with the line provided.

White Light

Life appeared as a bolt of light

Piercing through the blazen white

Snowflakes thundered under the hue

And it was in that moment that she knew

Take my hand, she said, and hold it tight

We must follow the illuminated bite

Strike me down as only you

Can make me see beyond the blue

The stars are mirrors, and so I see

There is no you, and there is no me

A white expense is all that remains

Ashen are the final drops of day

Take my hand, she said, and hold it tight

For this is our final night

Like Joan of Arc, man made effigy’s burn

There was only one lesson she ever needed to learn
