POEM STARTER

Write a poem from the point of view of a gardener who is enjoying their outdoor hobby.

What imagery and themes could you bring to this poem to reflect the narrator's love for this relaxing but productive activity?

The Week Of A Superstitious Gardener

On…

Monday-

I shall steal a plant,

God forbid it if I can’t

It brings such good luck

That I can’t deny

For A stolen plant can never die.

Tuesday-

I shall get reall cross,

Hotter than a steaming broth

I’ll sow the seeds for gleaming peppers

Who’ll turn out even spicier than ever

Fuelled by an anger no one can better.

Wednesday-

I shall observe my foxgloves,

Though I don’t expect much luck

The creatures here are too small too even touch

Yet fairies always flourish by foxglove

Maybe on Wednesdays they fly up and up.

Thursday-

I shall gift Gardener Jack a cutting,

Hoping he will forget to say something

A thank you will always lead to death

Or at least the plant failing to do its best

And I wouldn’t want that in my rest.

Friday-

I shall paint the manner,

let’s pray no one steps under my ladder

Such bad luck you wouldn’t believe

All the fault of that gardener Steve

They’ll say as they turn to look at me.

Saturday-

I shall hang fresh fennel ,

In all the doorways to ward of evil

Witches, spirits demons and more

We’ll seal the manner from them all

Then id better grow some more.

Sunday

I shall rest on the sabbath day,

And count up my weekly pay

For the gardens look superb today

The house is painted and perfectly safe

All superstitions are accounted for

The week can begin again…

Btw in Saturday on the last line you forgot the ‘ and capital I in I’d! Hope all this helps lol

Yes it does Thankyou

On the line ‘on my head’ you could change that to ‘in my rest’ to rhyme and like achieve the same meaning

That’s a good idea! I will change that!! I was stuck for what to put there that is a very good suggestion

Btw I like the rhyme scheme I haven’t seen that before, I like this!

Isn’t the sabbath on Saturday?

Oh just looked it up and learned smth new lol! My bad

This reminds me of that jung cook song lmfao
