The moment you were born,

The ligh reflecting off of your pale skin,

It seemed as though you were an angel

Gleaming with the light of love.

I Held my breath until i heard your first gasp.

The way your hand wrapped around my finger,

It filled my heart with emotions I didn’t know i had.

Your beautiful eyes looking up at me,

Telling me that you felt safe.

I never thought I could feel the love

that i felt at that moment.

Holding you for the first time,

It felt like it would never end.

I hoped it never would.

As i watched your first steps,

The word stood still.

My brain exploded with different thoughts and memories.

How did that little baby,

Grow up so fast?

At your first day of pre-school,

I couldn’t contain myself.

This is my baby,

How could she be in school?

I sat and watched you walk through those front doors.

When you started kindergarten,

I hadn’t realized how big you had gotten.

That ponytail,

Waving back and forth as you walked away.

All i wanted to do,

Was run to you to give you one more hug and kiss

But i knew i had to let you grow up

Let you be your own person.

To this day I’m not sure how

Or if ill ever be able to let go of you.

Let my baby go off on her own.

Out in to this crazy world.
