STORY STARTER

Your character manages to travel to the end of a rainbow, but instead of a pot of gold, they find…

Home

I’m running so fast, I’m worried my legs might fall off.

Not that I care.

My legs could fall off, my lungs could collapse, it doesn’t matter. I would do whatever it takes to make it to the end of the path that is now finally within reach.

The end of the rainbow is obscured from my sight by a line of trees but I do not care. I barrel right through them, not caring as I feel parts of my skin get cut open by stray branches.

Because I come out the other side and there’s a the end of the rainbow.

And there’s Macy, just like she said she’d be.

She’s beautiful. She always has been. Her dark hair is longer than I remember, her bangs that I helped her cut at 3 AM now mostly grown out.

She’s dressed in a simple t-shirt and a pair of shorts and the sight takes me breath away.

I don’t stop running. I make a beeline towards her, my feet pounding into the ground below. She’s smiling that brilliant smile at me and I think she goes to say hello but I collide with her before she can.

She lets out a yell that turns into a high pitched laugh as I lift her off the ground and twirl us around as I finally halt my footsteps.

I stop moving and place her down but I keep my arms around her, making sure this is real. She is here.

It wasn’t for nothing.

She pulls away first. She looks up at me, frames my face with her hands, and just says “hi.”

I must look like an idiot on the verge of tears from a simple “hi” but I do not care. Because she’s here. In my arms.

“I missed you,” I say, breathless from both running and from the sight of her.

She grins at me and ruffles my hair before pulling back completely and taking my hand. “C’mon,” she says. “Let me show you around.”

I don’t look away from her eyes and I pull on her hand to get her attention again.

“Hm?”

“I love you.”

Her smile grows wider.

“I love you too.”

I let out a small laugh and then glance down at her lips. She catches the movement and gives me a nod. I don’t waste any time.

I lean down and press my lips to hers, trying to convey all my love for her and my dedication to her.

She smiles and kisses me back and it tastes like home.
