sleepy
In the semi-darkness, the pebbles looked like coffee beans. I’ve been awake for too long
The street lights from the winding road above us send a glow across the water
It glimmers as I rub my eyes.
I need coffee better yet I need to sleep.
The person I was meeting was supposed to be here an hour ago.
I get up. They can’t really fault me for leaving at this point can they?
I start walking across the beach, the rocks clicking and clacking under me feet
The waves lapping gently at the shores.
The clouds high above follow me as I stumble.
My lord, I’m tired. I really need coffee.
My head spins as I need moving forward, pushing towards my car.
My vision is blurring.
Why am I so tired? It’s fine I’m fine
Just need some coffee.
I take one step, then another. My lips are going numb
So I don’t feel it when I hit the ground Or when someone scoops me into their arms
And I don’t feel it when they load me into the waiting helicopter Or when we fly away.
All I do know is that i’m finally getting some sleep
