WRITING OBSTACLE

Submitted by Frankie Famighetti

Create a conversation that takes place within a human body.

It can be between cells, organs, or anything real or imagined within the body.

Who She Truly Was

The brain was having an extremely difficult time keeping the sense in a row.

“Will all of you knock it off!” The brain screamed as the senses of the body rebelled. “We can’t have another situation like last time!”

“But she smells so good, like strawberries and cream in a sundae shop!” The nose blurted back.

“Yeah that’s great, but you are on strict orders!” The brain commanded back. The woman leaned in, slowly closing the gap between them. “Mouth, don’t you dare…” the brain trailed off. But it was too late. Lips touched lips and the damage is done.

The mouth was preoccupied and the whole body was set on fire with emotion as skin touched skin. “Stop feeling!” The brain screeched at the skin.

“But she’s so soft…” the skin mumbled, clearly preoccupied on the task at hand.

Of course, the brain knew it was too late. Soon, the heart would begin to beat harder, faster, and all control would be lost.

Ears began ringing as every sense of the body became enveloped in this woman. And soon, the brain followed suit. All the brain could hear were impulses of this woman. She smelled like home, tasted like heaven, felt safe and secure, and caused full sense overload.

This couldn’t happen again. The brain knew what would happen if the body fell in love again, especially with a woman. The other bodies, the parents, would never approve. Yet, here we were again, engulfed in the feminine beauty in front of us. It became all the mind could think of.

“No…..” the mind whispered, almost to itself. “Not again…”

And the heart began to beat with one name. It was over. So once again, the body began its dance and the senses enjoyed their moment. But the brain knew, once the moment was over, the body would crawl back into the closet. And continue to hide who she truly was.
