POEM STARTER
Paper boats, the scent of lemons, and tears.
Use these descriptors as inspiration for a poem.
One Full Orbit
Origami,
Lemon tree,
First word “Mummy”.
Memory.
Why’d you leave this Earth so soon?
One full orbit, but not two.
Never worn: toddler shoes.
If not for your sister, I’d be gone too.
Your little hand around my pinky.
Your little jumps and pirouettes.
Your giggles when your nappy’s stinky,
None of this I will forget.
I always end up back here,
Every year,
I make a paper boat and shed a tear.
And hold your sister a little tighter.
Because I can’t let go twice.
