Ruin
“If only the world had shown me a little more mercy, then maybe this could have been avoided.”
Kielan said to himself as he watched his army descend onto the kingdom of Elarion.
Kielan was the son of one of the king’s concubines. Unfortunately for him, his birth resulted from an affair with another servant. His mother was able to keep it a secret until he turned three, and his features became sharp, his hair had darkened to a black color, and had begun to curl in an unruly way. His eyes were black. The king had blond hair, soft features, and bright blue eyes. It was obvious the king was not his father. His mother was shamed for her betrayal of the king. She was hanged for treason. He was sent away from the palace and forced to work in one of the brothels in town.
Kielan worked there until he was 16 under the supervision of Mr. Hof. Mr. Hof spent 16 years treating Kielan worse than the dirt under his shoe. He beat and starved Kielan until Kielan had finally stolen enough money to escape. Kielan lived on the street for months until he met Rowan, the leader of the Assasians guild. Rowan recognized his potential and took him in as an apprentice.
Kielan worked with the Assassins’ guild for the next 4 years. He learned to kill, torture, and maim. He used to feel guilty about the lives he ruined, but he became numb to it all. He was no longer a person. He was a weapon. He decided that he was put on this earth for one thing. Revenge. He vowed to destroy the kingdom of Elarion for what they had turned him into.
After his realization, he went to Rowan and asked him to help. Rowan was the closest thing Kielan had to a friend. Rowan smiled and vowed to do anything to help bring down the kingdom of Elarion.
Kielan spent the next five years assembling, building, and training people to be like him. He saw potential for destruction in almost anyone and was able to coax it out of them. He built an army of soldiers who had little care for human life, including their own. They were thirsty for blood and revenge.
Kielan smiled as he watched his troops break into the city. He heard screaming and panicking. He saw fire start to spread.
_Finally_, he thought to himself. _Finally, this kingdom is feeling how I’ve felt my entire life. Terror. Chaos. Hatred. These people deserve it all_.
He turned to Rowan, who stood next to him, watching the chaos. His eyes burned as he delighted in the suffering as well. “Relay this message, Rowan.”
“Of course," Kielan, what would you like me to tell them?”Rowan asked with amusement in his eyes.
“When the troops enter the castle, I need them to get something from me”. It’s something I’ve wanted all my life.”
“Of course, what would you like them to bring to you?”
Kielan’s lips curled in a sneer, “Bring me the King’s head”.
