POEM STARTER
Write a winter Pantoum.
A pantoum is a poem where each stanza is 4 lines, and the second and fourth line of each stanza are repeated as the first and third lines of the next. As this creates a lot of repetition, try to pick a winter theme that would benefit from emphasis of certain lines.
Night In Winter
Bright above shines her light
The underbrush rustles
Owls float silent by
Mulling leaves, the scent of pine
Lonely fox lifts head to see
Bright above shines her light
Red fur bristling
Owls float silent by
Snow lays heavy on the branch
Lonely fox lifts head to see
Falling to the floor below
Red fur bristling
Brown squirrels snicker in their nest
Snow lays heavy on the branch
Tracing along Luna’s glow
Falling to the floor below
Bears snuggle cozy, warm in den
Brown squirrels snicker in their nest
Stars above in frozen gleam
Tracing along Luna’s glow
Tomorrow soon dawns in ivory tones
Bears snuggle cozy, warm in den
Natural world laid to rest
Stars above in frozen gleam
