STORY STARTER
Write a scene where a character confesses their (unreturned) love for another.
Unveiled
“I have loved you for centuries!” The echoes of her screams bounced off the castle walls, only silence following, “I have given every waking moment of my life to prove myself to you and you can’t even face me!” Her eyes burned as she stared at the woman ahead of her, barely visible in the shadows. She dared to stalk forward one step towards her wordless companion, teeth bared, fangs somehow able to gleam in the soft moonlight that filtered in, “If I can’t have you, no one can,”
The woman across from her stepped forward and didn’t stop, not until they were nearly chest to chest. She couldn’t step back, just stare at who she loved with her whole being but couldn’t just love her back. The woman spoke softly, her voice such a melody, “Why must I be the one to die when you can end your suffering right here?” A movement too fast for the human eye. A thud. Her head rolled and her body dropped to its knees. The woman simply stepped over her and continued walking. She did pause for a moment before looking back at her lifeless form, “Love is not worth the pain it always ends with, don’t you think?”
