When I look in the mirror I see the tiny version of me. I see the person who spent hours giggling and running about my backyard. I see the kid who promised herself that she would always be beautiful and would never judge herself. I am not sure where this mindset came from. I remember seeing the anti-bulling assemblies from my youth. They used common mantras like, you are beautiful, you are worthy, you are perfect. Somehow this mindset has changed over this time. I now know that none of these mantras can be completely true. When I look in my mirror I see my imperfections, even though I told myself I would never have any. When I look in the mirror, I am disappointed. I am failing my younger self by seeing these things. Yet maybe I should have never believed them.
