I watch as the shadows fall from her face, the gentle touch of warm light basking on her skin. Her shadows cower away at her command, seemingly afraid of the ability she possesses. I watch as her head falls back and I trace her every feature down to the curl of her lips. Her daggers are gleam against her combat leathers and her her long hair falls in waves of gold. She stretches her arms out to her sides and spins under the light that she was forbidden from ever touching. I watch as her eyelids flutter under the penetrating rays of the sun’s touch and when her eyes finally meet mine, the world seems to slow. Her pale skin gleams and her smile is unforgettable. Though if there was anyone I couldn’t forget, it would be her.

She breathes in deep, as if the scent of the breeze just might carry a whiff of the suns rays. And me? I just stare. With a curiosity I cannot seem to waver…

I stare at her with every hope that I might memorize the curl of her lip, the rise and fall of her chest, and the flutter of her lashes as if her sight before might disappear forever. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so girlish, so innocent. Even with her combat leathers and daggers perched on her sides, she has never looked more beautiful in this moment. And I can only hope that I will bask her under single ray of the sun, if only it meant I could see her so happy again.
