The calmness of the night was well upon us. Some street lights were softly illuminating the ceiling and the walls. Light breeze was touching our skin the same way that we touched each other’s, ready to be taken by the

night.

I was caught off guard when his body shifted and his face turned sharp and focused.

“Did you hear that? As if the front door has been opened by someone.”

He certainly locked it beforehand and yet, quietly, as if to not disturb the uncalled guests, he made his way out of the room to the entrance. I closed my eyes and tried no to focus on the emptiness that appeared on the right side of the bed while also convincing myself we are indeed alone in the apartment.

After what felt like the longest minutes, he was back by my side along with my thoughts that had traveled too much by now. We laid in silence and i could feel his tension and hear his thoughts.

“It’s all in your head. Don’t think about it”.

He mumbled something i couldn’t quite catch and turned his back towards me.

“What did you say?”

I asked.

“How did you know i was thinking about it?”

He said, and I heard the tiredness in his voice.

I smirked and a smile appeared on my face. I turned towards him, lightly touching his back.

We let the silence of the night take us away and drifted to sleep.
