"Let’s skip the pleasentries, shall we?" I lean back against the chair, picking my legs up and crossing them over on top of the oak table. "We both know we’re not here for small talk."

Clementine crosses her arms and exhales. "There’s a new terrorist group." I raise and eyebrow and sit properly. "They’re called Waterways."

"And what exactly makes them a terrorist? They kill people? That would make your rebellion a terrorist group too."

Clementine rolls her eyes. "We get rid of people that are evil and get in our way of making our kingdom — your kingdom — a better place. They are collateral damage. The people, they’re- they’re killing all Pyros. Whether they are innocent or not, it doesn’t matter. Man, woman. Child, elderly. They’re killing all the people of the fire."

My eyes widen. "What?"

"Yeah. They’re are already 50 recruits. 75 people have been killed, a quarter of them children."

"Shit.." I mutter. I look up at her. "So what do I have to do with any of this? I think we both know that me telling my father will just make things worse for you Neuros."

"Help me in secret."

My breath stops. "Have you gone absolutely insane? I know losing me for a whole year would affect someone, but come on, sweetheart-"

"Now is not the time for your cockiness, Alric. I need your help."

I sigh. "Fine. What do you need me to do?"
