STORY STARTER

You can’t tell if your upstairs neighbour is genuinely a nice person or if they're really the devil incarnate...

Locking Horns.

The horns are a dead giveaway that my neighbour is a devil, I should know, because I’m a devil too.

Why have the higher-ups sent another demon to this town? Aren’t I petty enough? I already enforce enough ridiculous rules as part of neighbourhood watch!

It is fun to see mortals become annoyed because the grass is a centimetre too high and I just love a good argument about fence height, but is it not enough?

This new devil is kind - too kind.

He lends out his power tools and helps the mortals with the ridiculous rules that I set up.

It’s infuriating and only until he is running against me in the council do I finally understand.

He’s trying to force me out of the town!

Yes, he’s got a friendly face and bakes cookies and hands out lemonade on hot days, but I can see the formations of a plan.

He whispered, concerned, to a married woman - and suddenly some affair has come to light.

The power tools break and the mortals feel guilty, even though they’re not at fault.

Whenever we lock eyes I know that he outshines me in every way.

This town isn’t big enough for two demons to terrorise it, but I’m determined to stay even if I have to fight tooth and nail…
