POEM STARTER
Moonshine and Moonlight
Write a poem which centres on these words. How can you pair these similar words with very different meanings in a poem?
( The Sun ) “Son”
The moonlight used to comfort me
Less the light and how little the light glowed
Darkness crowded me
I liked it at the time
I think it's because I blended in
My heart seeped out the very thing it was crowded by
So then it could truly hide
The light of the moon was just enough for me to see
but dark enough to be below the tide
The sun brought a cold toe-to-toe with my emotions
I ran from it daily
Cause when I didn't it felt as if everything was in slow motion
Hoping it never could get to me
I'd keep on going
You knew that
So you came as a moon
But shined brighter than any sun
I looked into your eyes with
Every single thing
I've done
For you knew it was the only way I wouldn't run from you
The moon you came but “The Son” you knew
For even below my tide I couldn't be so blue
I used to hold onto what I once knew
Forevermore
Now your moonshine is all I'll ever know
