Amvor looks down at his hands, first inspecting the palms then the back of his hands, finally rubbing each fingertip. He shoves his hands into his pockets and turns from his burning house. He walks through the city towards the gate seeing Crown Guards running towards the smoke with water buckets in hand.

“Amvor!” A voice calls to him but Amvor keeps walking. “Amvor stop!” Amvor keeps his head down as his father, Vam, grabs his arm and turns him around. “Where in the deep are you going?”

“I have to leave.” Amvor whispers.

“Not this again. Boy you are not a danger to us, you’re just havin’ bad dreams.”

“Da…”

“No boy, you’re my only son and I love ya to the deep and back.” Amvor tries to speak but no noise comes out so he looks at Vam and points past him. Vam turns to see the smoke and falls to one knee. “No.”

“I’m sorry da.”

“This ain’t your fault boy there has to be an explinqtion.” Vam turns and sees Amvor gone. “Shit!” Vam turns and runs towards the smoke.
