I Want
i don’t want to stick out like a weed in a field of wildflowers.
i want to be pretty like the black eyed susan’s.
i want to be pretty like the bluebells.
weeds aren’t that.
they disrupt the peace.
no one likes them.
i don’t want to stick out like a chihuahua in a room of mastiffs.
i want to have their cute faces.
i want to have their playful demeanor.
chihuahuas aren’t that.
they’re small
and aggressive.
i don’t want to stick out like a sapling in a forest of oaks.
i want to be beautiful like their long branches.
i want to be beautiful like their green leaves.
saplings aren’t that.
they are small.
and fragile.
i want to be something i’m not.
and there’s no way to change it.
