I’ll just move on

At least I know what it could have been like

Now I can lie awake and dream

I can imagine ways it could have ended

There are so many possibilities

Like,

Maybe you fell for me; too

Maybe you looked back

Maybe I was enough for you

Think how this might have been different

And now I’ll always have that hopeful thought

The what-ifs that set my heart a flight

So even as the pain dims my light

And the tears make me blind

I’ll stay quiet

You need your sleep

At least you’ll be happy

And if you’re happy, that’s all I wanted anyway

To make you happy.
