POEM STARTER

The Burden of Memory
Write a poem that could have this as its title.
The Burden Of Memory
A scream of terror
A scream of shame
A scream that echoed in my brain
Noises I do not understand are heard
And words that I cannot understand
Terror and horror rises up my throat
Taking its hand around my neck
Wrapping me in a chokehold
Starlight shimmers
Moonlight glows
Glowing like a shine I could never forget
Like the burden of memory
I will never suppress
Hopes are up
And chances are low
Terror rises again up your throat
You understand more
And feel even better
The scars feeling as open as a broken sweater
I cannot stress how much it hurts
Only because I wanted it first
The burden of your photo
The burden of your face
The burden of your existence
A lost mistake
Clothes that were never wore
Birthdays that were missed
Sadness that was there
Happiness that once was
All behind
As it was
The burden of memory
The hurt of the soul
The loss of the hearts greatest desire
Loosing what you want to have and see
The overwhelming burden
Of memory
