POEM STARTER

Compose a pastoral poem that describes a meadow full of wildflowers.

Pastoral poetry focuses on the human connection with nature, and often idealises simple country living.

The Precipice

In the distance I find

Where the heavens part and let the sky shine through the depths…

Of shadows that cover the precipice

Where fields of color bloom - aglow

I chose this life over the world below

I long for serenity I have lost

Still haunted by the shadows

Lurking cold within the frost

Alas I will sit;

Toes tipped toward the whispering breeze

Where wildflowers bloom, in wait for me.
