POEM STARTER
Paper boats, the scent of lemons, and tears.
Use these descriptors as inspiration for a poem.
I Kept Your Little Paper Boats
Watch with me her last moments, her last breaths…
Laughter of me and my daughter pours out the speaker of my phone.
Icecream cascades down my hand melting off the cone
while Tears stream down my face as I watch her last moment.
Moments of her where she rowed a crooked paper boat.
I lick the melting liquid off my hand,
my nose poking into it, picking up it’s lemon scent,
Lemon was always her favourite flavour.
Trailing back to the screen,
Was a lemon cake, laying beside her on the tent.
Oh how her smiles and laughs were tokens…
Oh how much of valuable stones
Or even my own bones…
Would it take to bring her back?
Oh I don’t care about a price,
As I would pay every cent of it, without even thinking twice…
Dear daughter if you’re hearing this, I’m sorry I didn’t get to fly with you those kites…
I still kept those paper boats…
Keeping them as memory,
Keeping them as an oath.
