WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a dual point-of-view scene in which the right part of the brain and the left are disagreeing about a topic.

Think about the characteristics associated with each side.

I can see her making faces at me from the corner of my eye, trying to get my attention. Instead of looking, I keep my eyes forward and focused on driving.

“Look at me!” She yells.

NOBODY gets to talk to me that way.

She was just joking, chill.

No, that’s not okay. She doesn’t get to tell me what to do.

She’s my friend. I know that she doesn’t mean it like that.

NO. Now if I do it, I’m letting her control me.

I need to let go of my pride. This isn’t anything to feel forced about.

That crossed a line. She shouldn’t talk to me like that. She is not in charge of me. I don’t have to do what she says.

Okay, now I’m overreacting. If I ignore her, it’ll be rude because we’re just hanging out.

Screw her. She deserves to be ignored!

I’m going to look at her. I know she didn’t mean to sound controlling.

I’m going to glare at her so she knows she doesn’t get to talk to me like that.

I look over at her, glaring.
