Write a short story where humans are the mythical beings.
Listen, Listen And Wonder
Come here little one
Come to bed, and I will tell you a story
A story grandma?
Yes a story I was told long ago.
Now, have I ever told you the story of the soul dust in the stars?
No grandma.
Well here is a story
A story it is…
Have you ever wondered
Of the lights among the sky?
The pieces of sun
That light your way?
Have you ever thought
How lonely the moon must be?
To hang there in the darkness
Against all the stars
Without arms to reach out and hold a single one?
I wouldn’t mind grandma.
I don’t need anyone to hold me
Only babies need to be held.
There will come a time, child.
When all you need is for someone to hold you
When times get bad and all you wish for
Is someone to hold you.
Have you ever needed someone to hold you grandma?
Many times, little one, many times.
Now, the little lights in the sky
The ones that burn so bright
That keep company to the night
Are like little candles that never go out.
But you see, all things that burn must go out
Just as all things that live must die.
So how do the candles still burn, grandma?
They burn off of all the good things that are done in this world.
Every good thing that is done
Goes to fuel the stars.
They take all those good things
And they give back to the world.
They are built off of all the good done
So they will always give back.
And when a person who is especially good
Passes into the great beyond,
They light a new candle
To burn forever.
Will I get to light a candle when I pass on grandma?
Always do good, and you will light a thousand new candles in the sky.
These little lights are fueled by good
So they will always do their best to do good for you as well.
If you are ever unsure of what to do
Look up at the sky
And they will guide you to the right path.
If you even need to be held
The stars will capture you in their warm embrace.
What if all of us were up there, grandma?
What if all of us decided what would happen to this world?
Then little one, the world would be in shambles.
