The Rose
The rose is there, just as she said
It shines beneath the glass, bright red
With magic it floats, yet it fills me with dread
For I know its secret for the final hour
For it measures the heart of our young prince
Since the day his selfishness made her heart wince
As a beast he was cursed from that day since
And in shame he never leaves the castle’s west tower
A young maiden, lost, no shelter to be found
She stumbles upon the snowy castle ground
She creaks open the door, inside there’s no sound
Just lots of old furniture, all musty and dour
She searches the castle and finds the west wing
The man in the portraits there makes her heart sing
The beast, he appears, looking fierce as a king
Terrified at his presence, in fear she does cower
Time grants them friendship, after great tribulation
The love in their hearts grows with each conversation
The beast grants his beauty a grand revelation
In the few final hours of the magical flower
“I love you, my beauty, my love, my life”
“Please grant me the pleasure of being my wife”
In that moment, peace took over his strife
The beast became man, the rose releasing its power
