WRITING OBSTACLE
Inspired by Samantha Roberts
Write a descriptive scene about a character feeling the sunlight on their face for the first time in a very long while.
Try to use as many senses as you can to capture this moment.
Too Hot, Too Bright, You’re New
The sun was warm, maybe a little too warm. It was bright too, maybe a little too bright. The electricity in his cheeks and the sun beating down on him at the same time felt so foreign. Yet, despite being locked up in this horror house of a lab for the last couple of years, Akihiro wasn’t focused on the overwhelming senses he was feeling, but rather, the person next to him, and his worry for it.
He had no clue who it was. Neither him nor anyone else in their group had met it before. It was a mystery, considering it had clearly gone through the same experiment as the rest of them. During the escape, they had only planned for each of the members of their group. Yet, when Akihiro had passed by that room, he couldn’t help but try to get it out of there too. And he succeeded.
But now, with the sun and the sunlight, and the amount of people too, it seemed completely and utterly overwhelmed. Akihiro, in his moment of worry, grabbed its hand, squeezed it, and pulled it along, out of the crowd of the others. He would have to be the one to explain everything, and that was fine. But first, he needed to give it some relief from the pure overwhelming feeling that it must be feeling. He took it over to a nearby creek in a shaded area, maybe that would help. The creek could help cool it down while the shade would make the brightness be much less.
