The sunset wavers across the sky,

showing off hues of pink and orange.

Soft sounds of fluttering leaves

Breeze through my ears like a light melody.

Flowers sway in the gentle wind,

Like the ones you used to gift me.

My hand feels the ghost of another…

Yours is missing from my grasp.

The dirt beneath my feet

Is holding the only heart I ever loved.

You were supposed to watch every sunset with me,

But now you’re only ever watching over me from above.
