POEM STARTER
Write a poem that shows how a single moment in a person’s childhood still affects them to this day.
It does not have to be a something negative...
Doors Unlocked
With each slam of the door
I hid
Knowing its a game where I have to be found
Yet already sealing my fate of loss
One day I decided to hide in a cabinet
Quietly this time
Its not fun to play games that last a second
You knew that and pretended to not know
Then eventually forgot about me
Meanwhile the doors of the cabinets were stuck
I could have screamed
But my commitment to the game was strong
Then I slept
When I woke up in total darkness
That’s when I fought to be broken free
Years will pass
Still the doors will never be slammed
Never be closed all the way
Lights will all be on
Cause being trapped makes you that way
