STORY STARTER
Write a scene where a character confesses their (unreturned) love for another.
Guy From Psych
Rehan knows he likes Noor. He thinks he knows. He’s not sure yet. But he plans on confessing this mess of feelings to her today. Even with Ayan shooting daggers at the back of his head as he does so.
"Hey, Noor?" he calls out.
Noor pauses her conversation with Nafiza and turns around. "Oh hey, Rehan," she smiles. "What’s up?"
He fiddles with his bag strap. "Can I talk to you?"
Noor notices his nervous demeanour and nods, "Yeah, sure." She stands up from the brick wall she was sitting on. "I’ll catch up with you guys later."
She walks away from her friends and over to Rehan. Rehan leads her to a tucked away corner, only a few people are around. It’s private.
"Everything okay?"
"Yeah, uhm.." he clears his throat. "I just uh.. God," he lets out a small chuckle. "I don’t- I don’t know how to say it," he looks up at the sky.
"Hey.." Noor touches his arm. That one touch makes his whole body shiver. Then the warmth is gone. "Just tell me straight up, okay? Don’t think about it."
Easy to say when it’s all you have been thinking about. He takes a deep breath. "I like you," he blurts out. "Like, like-like you."
"Oh." Is all Noor says. Then a smaller ‘oh.’
"You don’t feel the same.." Rehan sighs.
"I’m sorry."
"It’s fine. It’s-"
"What’s going on here?" Ayan walks over. "This looks.. cozy."
Noor shoots a sharp glare at Ayan.
"Nothing," Rehan grumbles. "I’ll see you in psych, I guess," he mutters and walks away.
"God! You are such a child!" Rehan hears Noor say.
Noor shoves him and Ayan apologises.
Noor watches as Rehan walks away, out of earshot. "He just confessed," she whispers even though Rehan can’t hear her anymore.
"Seriously?" Ayan raises an eyebrow.
"And you saying that did not help!" she hits his arm lightly again.
"I said sorry!"
"Whatever," she sigh and slumps against the wall. "I hope this doesn’t change anything between us."
"Well if it does," he leans against the wall next to her, "He’s an idiot. Because every guy in your life is lucky to have you in their life, even if it’s platonically."
Ayan’s eyes linger on Noor’s profile for longer than it should. Noor looks back at him and he quickly looks away.
(Characters are based off of my WIP. Should I add a scene like this is my book? But from Noor’s POV then Ayan’s in first person.)£
