POEM STARTER

Submitted by Its_Ady

Write a poem about a bird who was once human.

Even now, it remembers what it was like to have hands, to touch, to hold, and to feel. Now wings beat where arms once moved, but the memories never fade.

Coronis

Dear, dear, boy.

You don't realise what you've done

Just because you're immortal

Doesn't mean you shouldn't run

You made me a monster

Feathers too tight

Wings and beak

Black as night

Caw caw

You'll fall

But not in love

From above

Down, down

Underground

To hell with you

My heart won't pound

Not for you

Not for him

I'm a mortal

But you'll take the hit

Damn you

Damn you and you're selfish ways

I didn't love you, I didn't love him

You thought I did anyway

I could have never

Avoided this fate

And stay true to myself

On the same day

You knew that

You took advantage

Of me and my feelings

And what I couldn't salvage

I'll fly up high

Looking down below

Searching for

Where you deserve to go

And I hope you're looking at me

With fear and regret

Down at the girl

You could never get

Because this bird

Isn't a prize to be won

I'm not an object

Not just made for love

I'm made from the hands

Of revenge and spilt blood

Not from a queen

Sculpting a pretty rose bud
