POEM STARTER

Submitted by XOXO, Z A I N 🩵

“Clouds cover the skies, rain pulls at your eyes,

but nothing hurts as much as little words turned lies'

Use this stanza as either part of, or inspiration for a poem.

The Hurt from Little Lies

The dark clouds loom low in the skies

They take the sunshine from my eyes

Clouds foreboding, dark portends

Upon my soul the hurt descends.

Then the rain comes cold and slashing

Sets my teeth violently gnashing

But the drops conceal my tears

Of hurt I’ve felt throughout the years.

Hurt that comes not from the skies

But from the ‘cumulation of the lies

Little words turned with a smirk

Deep in the shadows, liars lurk.

They gossip and they say such things

That will maximize the stings

They are willful with the hurt they bring

Out of bounds? There’s no such thing.

But I know deep down inside

That my soul can this storm ride

The lies cannot my heart deceive

I’ll still wear my heart upon my sleeve.

So though the clouds loom in the skies

And though I cry because of lies

I will remember to keep tight my lip

Because big hurt comes with little gossip.

This is brilliantly worded.
