POEM STARTER
The Thin Line Between Happiness and Joy
Compose a poem with this title in mind.
TGIF
Another Friday night is here,
A circumstance to whoop and cheer.
At the pub, the usual booth,
The usual order of Vermouth.
Scouting both near and afar,
I spot a stunner at the bar.
Cleavage showing, skin tight jeans,
A ringless finger so it seems.
I wander over with a strut,
Full of gusto in my gut,
I say my lines with usual charm,
She falls for it, she’s been disarmed.
A few drinks later, we take off,
At my place another quaff,
After one night of fun for two,
She leaves first thing with things to do.
I lay there in my empty bed,
Dry of mouth and throbbing head.
I pace around my quiet house,
Another day, my spirit doused.
On the socials — happy kids,
Laughing loud in all the vids.
There must be more to life than this,
I just get joy, no happiness…
